Pericles lived by 495-429 BC. During this time, religious beliefs was inextricably linked with Athenian society. It contributed to a whole lot of Athenian culture plus the many aspects of religion were portrayed through buildings, artworks, festivals and every day time rituals. Gods and Goddesses In Ancient greek language mythology there was 12 key gods, that were prayed to and worshipped by the Athenians. It was explained they were living on top of Install Olympus. Worship of the gods consisted of rituals and ceremonies. The relationship between people and deities was based on the concept of exchange; Gods and goddesses had been expected to response prayers and humans had been expected to offer gifts and sacrifices.
