A Record of the Manhattan Task in the United States

A Background of the Manhattan Task in the United States

The atomic Bomb code called The Manhattan Task was

the first atomic Bomb created by america. The United

States supervised the expansion of the atomic bomb, under

the code name Manhattan Project, during Globe War II. The

first sustained nuclear chain response was achieved in

December 1942 at the University of Chicago beneath the direction

of Arthur Holly Compton. Key associates of the study team

were Enrico Fermi and J. Robert Oppenheimer. Shortly after

the first bomb test was finished, atomic bombs were dropped

on the Japanese towns of Hiroshima (Aug. 6, 1945) and Nagasaki

(Aug. 9, 1945).

The atomic bomb, that was developed secretly in the

United States during World Battle II, differed from all earlier

types of bombs. It contained radioactive substances that

underwent very rapid changes under certain circumstances,

releasing immense levels of light and heat.

For an atom bomb to explode, its radioactive elements,

an isotope of uranium called U-235 should be present
